**MOOC: Training Local Instructors to Navigate Statistical Area Updates in Pesawaran Regency**

Today marks the commencement of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Training Local Instructors on Updating Enumeration Area SLS in 2024, Wave II, held in Pesawaran Regency. Among the prominent figures leading this online training is Muhamad Septa Utama Sp, SST, representing the Pesawaran Regency Statistical Office. As a Young Computer Expert in the Functional Computer Pranata category, Utama has been entrusted with this pivotal role.

This training session holds significant relevance in light of the implementation of Indonesia's One Data policy (SDI) since 2019, as per Presidential Regulation No. 39 of 2019. SDI aims to streamline government data management, making it easily accessible and shareable among governmental agencies at both central and local levels. BPS, being a key player in SDI, shoulders the responsibility of generating high-quality data and ensuring the continual updating of its statistical infrastructure.

In the context of statistical infrastructure updates, understanding the concept of the master sample frame is paramount. This frame divides Indonesia into statistical units known as Statistical Work Areas (Wilkerstat), serving as a blueprint for survey design and execution.

At the grassroots level, enumeration areas (EAs) such as Census Blocks (BS) and Local Environment Units (SLS) play a crucial role in data collection. Presently, the utilization of SLS as an EA is being explored as a novel alternative. However, this transition is not without its challenges. Dynamics such as territorial changes, including expansion, consolidation, or renaming, as well as the non-standardized nature of household or population compositions within SLS, present unique hurdles.

To address these challenges, the Pesawaran Regency BPS has initiated the Updating Enumeration Area SLS activity. Through ground checks conducted by Updating Officers from the Regency/City BPS, changes within SLS can be better identified. By leveraging data from the Identification of Potential SLS Changes conducted during the Village Census activity, the Updating Enumeration Area SLS aims to uphold data quality and resource efficiency.

With the MOOC for Training Local Instructors on Updating Enumeration Area SLS in 2024, Wave II, it is hoped that local instructors like Muhamad Septa Utama Sp, SST, can become agents of change, effectively navigating the dynamics of statistical area changes. This, in turn, will lead to improvements in the national statistical system and better decision-making for Indonesia's future development.
