Regional Coordination Meeting for the 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP) of Lampung Province

October 16, 2024 | Other Activities

Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Regional Coordination Meeting for the 2024 Agricultural Economic Survey (SEP) for Lampung Province was officially opened by Atas Parlindungan Lubis, Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Lampung Province. This activity is held as an effort to strengthen synergy between sectors in supporting the development of the agricultural sector based on accurate, valid, and high-quality data. In his speech, Atas Parlindungan Lubis emphasized the importance of data in planning and decision-making, especially in the agricultural sector, which is the backbone of the regional economy.

This event serves as an important momentum in bringing together various parties, from local government, academics, to other stakeholders, who play a crucial role in the development of the agricultural sector in Lampung Province. The goal is not only to improve the quality of agricultural economic data but also to ensure the sustainability of the agricultural sector in facing future challenges, such as climate change, market dynamics, and the continuously increasing food demand.

After the opening ceremony, the agenda continued with the presentation of awards to the data custodians from the Provincial Government and the District Governments throughout Lampung. This award is a form of appreciation for their significant contributions in the timely and quality management and dissemination of sectoral data. Walidata plays a key role in presenting reliable data to support better policy planning at the regional level.

The next session in this meeting also captured the participants' attention even more with the interactive talk show. The talk show featured prominent speakers from the academic and economic practitioner circles, who provided a comprehensive view of the agricultural conditions and prospects in Lampung. The discussion covers strategic issues such as agricultural product diversification, strengthening market access, and the utilization of digital technology in modern agriculture.

On that occasion, the speakers also emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration, especially between the academic world, the financial sector, and other stakeholders, to create an innovative and sustainable agricultural ecosystem. This Coordination Meeting also serves as a strategic discussion space in formulating concrete steps that will lead Lampung's agriculture towards increased productivity, competitiveness, and food sovereignty.

With the successful holding of the SEP 2024 Regional Coordination Meeting, it is hoped that the results of this survey will provide a deeper understanding of the agricultural conditions in Lampung, and serve as a basis for more effective policy-making in supporting sustainable agricultural development. The local government, through accurate and comprehensive data, can identify the problems faced by farmers, as well as formulate more targeted solutions to improve their welfare and advance the agricultural sector in Lampung.
