## Understanding the Nation's Well-being: Delving into the National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas)

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as a trusted statistical institution in Indonesia continues to strive to provide a complete picture of the nation's socioeconomic conditions. One of its efforts is through the annual National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas) which has been an agenda since 1963.

**Tracing the History of Susenas**

Initially, Susenas was known as the Income, Consumption and Labor Force Survey (SPKAK) which focused on the economic aspects of households. Over time, its scope was expanded to become Susenas in 1992, becoming an important data source for various indicators, such as education, health, housing, and many more.

**Delving into Susenas Methodology: Reaching Data Depth**

Susenas is like a treasure map of socioeconomic data. BPS uses a **stratified random sampling** method, like selecting random samples from a population group that has been grouped (strata). This ensures accurate data representation from various regions and population groups in Indonesia.

Trained BPS officers also become reliable data explorers, visiting selected households to interview and collect information. This process is carried out face-to-face, ensuring data quality that can be trusted.

**Unveiling Susenas Results: A Variety of Valuable Data for the Nation**

Susenas is like a lantern that illuminates various aspects of Indonesian society. The data produced is not only poverty statistics and the Human Development Index (HDI), but also:

* **Education:** Education level, access to education, and education inequality.

* **Health:** Health status, access to health services, and health insurance.

* **Expenditure and Consumption:** Household expenditure patterns, food consumption, and food security.

* **Housing:** Housing conditions, access to clean water and sanitation, and home ownership.

* **Social Security:** Access to social security programs and social assistance.

* **Employment:** Unemployment rate, employment opportunities, and minimum wages.

* **Migration:** Population mobility and migration patterns.

This valuable data becomes a compass for the government in formulating targeted policies, such as poverty alleviation, improving education quality, and equitable infrastructure development. For researchers and academics, Susenas provides rich analytical material to understand Indonesia's socioeconomic reality. For the general public, Susenas becomes a benchmark to understand the nation's progress and as a motivator for participation in national development.

**Susenas: Information Window, Reflection of the Nation's Well-being**

Susenas is like an information window that opens up insights into the nation's socioeconomic conditions. The data produced is a reflection of the people's welfare and an important tool in realizing a just, prosperous, and advanced Indonesia. Let us support Susenas and together build a

brighter future for Indonesia.
